Hanoi (VNA)— On March 1, Filipino President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim agreed to strengthen political and security cooperation and stressed the importance of East Sea peace (also known as South China Sea).

Marcos told philstar.com that the two countries, as neighbours, recognise the importance of regional peace and stability.

He added the two countries will resume Joint Commission Meetings and collaborative efforts to tackle transnational crime and terrorism.

Anwar agreed with Marcos that ASEAN members should discuss the issue multilaterally (ASEAN).

The two presidents also committed to increase trade and investment in the halal industry, agriculture, food security, and the digital economy.
