BlueMail’s co-founder told Reuters that Apple Inc (AAPL.O) has banned an update to the email app’s customised version of OpenAI’s GPT-3 language model.
“Apple has blocked the BlueMail update and continues to treat BlueMail unfairly and discriminating against us,” Blix’s Ben Volach said.
“Other GPT-powered programmes look unrestricted,” he continued.
According to a Reuters document, Apple rejected the app upgrade last week and requested the company to alter the app’s age classification for those over 17 or install content filtering since BlueMail may produce content unsuitable for all audiences.
“Fairness. If we must be 17+, so should others “Volach noted that numerous Apple app store apps with ChatGPT-like capabilities don’t have age limits.
Apple, which investigated the allegation, said developers can appeal rejections through the App Review Board.
“That signals to us that the firm may evaluate apps with ChatGPT capabilities in the same way it does others when there are questions about the quality of the user experience and acceptable nature of the material or service supplied by the app,” D.A. Davidson analyst Thomas Forte said.
Techies are fascinated by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which generates content based on user input.
Microsoft (MSFT.O) and Google (GOOGL.O) both launched AI chatbots in February.
AI-powered chatbots are new, but their unpredictable search results and interactions have generated headlines.
