WhatsApp’s Android beta test indicates users will soon be able to utilise multiple accounts on the same device.
The WhatsApp Business beta app may soon allow account switching between two or more accounts. Switching between personal and work accounts may be useful. WABetaInfo discovered it.
The site states that the beta’s “When you set up an additional account for the first time, it will be stored on your device until you decide to log out of the account, so you can always switch to it when you want” function works.
WhatsApp already lets users use the same account on numerous phones, and now it looks to be working on the reverse feature for even more flexibility.
The only method to switch accounts on the same Android device is via utilising a copy of the software, but it looks like simple switching, like Instagram users can, may be coming soon.
The app’s strict phone number requirement would change. If you changed the SIM in the phone, you could start a new account or keep the old number. The beta solution would provide dual-SIM users more freedom.
WhatsApp has been fantastic at bringing long-requested features from experimental versions to the main app, but it’s unclear if this upgrade will make it to iOS or Android. The main app has been adding Channels and Chat Lock in recent weeks.
