Malaysia and China have agreed to maintain continuous and open dialogue on the South China Sea issue in order to keep the situation on the ground peaceful, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He went on to say that the South China Sea problem was one of numerous topics he discussed with China Premier Li Qiang today.
Anwar further stated that Li expressed his support for Asean Centrality in addressing the issue of international security in the region, as well as a free Asean bloc, despite the antagonism between the US and China.

Anwar also brought up the situation in Myanmar and the return of Rohingya refugees during today’s meeting.
“In dealing with bilateral, regional, and international cooperation, Premier Li shared the concept of a community for a shared future for mankind, emphasising principles of openness, civility, inclusiveness, and mutual respect.”
“These values are consistent with those of Malaysia Madani,” he said today in a statement published in conjunction with his working visit here for the China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO) ke-20.
Anwar stated that Malaysia, in general, supports universal ideals such as poverty eradication, the fight for justice, and long-term growth.
