According to Rolling Stone magazine, Jimmy Fallon, host of NBC’s flagship Tonight Show, has apologised to employees after they accused him of creating a “toxic workplace.”

According to the music and culture magazine, Fallon, a comedian and one of the stars of US late-night TV, has been accused of “erratic behaviour” by two current employees and 14 former Tonight Show employees, with some claiming the show has been “a toxic workplace for years.”

Fallon, 48, was said to “snap at crew members, express irritation over the smallest of things, and berate and belittle staffers out of frustration” by one unnamed person interviewed by Rolling Stone.

According to the magazine report, which was published Thursday, Tonight Show employees had complained about the psychological impact of his behaviour — with some referring to dressing rooms as “crying rooms” — and had reported their concerns to NBC’s human resources department.

According to Rolling Stone, Fallon and showrunner Chris Miller convened a virtual meeting in which the talk show host apologised and expressed regret.

“I apologise if I embarrassed you, your family, or your friends… According to the report, he stated, “I feel so bad I can’t even tell you.”

“It’s embarrassing, and I feel so bad,” he continued.

“I want this show to be enjoyable. It should be open to everyone. It should be amusing. It should be the best show, with the best cast. “I just wanted to let you know how much I miss you guys,” he was quoted as saying.

This week, Fallon was in London, interviewing Rolling Stones stars Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood in front of a press audience at a London concert hall for the release of their new album.

Fallon succeeded Jay Leno, who had hosted the Tonight Show for more than two decades, in 2014.
