Jordan’s King Abdullah met with regional and international leaders on Sunday in an attempt to defuse rising tensions between Israel and the Palestinians.
According to the Jordan News Agency, the king warned Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi over the phone about the consequences of a prolonged conflict on regional security.
The leaders agreed that both Palestinians and Israelis must exercise restraint, protect civilian lives, and follow international humanitarian law, while also expressing their support for the Palestinian cause.
In an interview with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, King Abdullah stated that coordination among Arab nations was critical in assisting Palestinians in achieving their legitimate rights.
He also emphasised the importance of collective action in preventing the conflict from escalating.
The king also discussed the situation with European Council President Charles Michel. He emphasised the importance of finding a just solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and stated that cooperation between Jordan and the EU was critical to achieving regional peace.
