Russia, Iran To Sign Major Agreement

The Russian Defence Ministry announced the signing of a major country-to-country treaty between Moscow and Tehran following phone talks between Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Ashtiani.

Shoigu stated that Moscow and Tehran are stepping up their joint efforts to create a more equal multipolar world.

Furthermore, the parties discussed pressing defence and military-technical cooperation issues, as well as their perspectives on regional security.

According to the Defence Ministry, the phone conversation was friendly and served as another step in strengthening strategic relations between Russia and Iran.

On the sidelines of the September 2022 SCO summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Vladimir Putin and Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, held discussions. It was revealed that significant progress was being made between Russia and Iran on a new treaty.
