Batik Air, previously Malindo Air, will begin flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Sapporo and Osaka through Taipei on January 3 and January 20 of next year, respectively.

The announcement came after the airline started flying four times a week between the popular cities of Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo.

The airline said in a statement that the new flights were added to meet the rising demand for travel between Malaysia and Japan.

In honour of the new routes to Japan, Batik Air is now selling tickets from Kuala Lumpur to Sapporo for as little as RM1,590 for economy class.

A promotional one-way economy class fare from Taipei to Sapporo starts at TWD4,695.

One-way economy class fares from Sapporo to Kuala Lumpur start at 57,300 Japanese yen, while one-way economy class fares from Sapporo to Taipei start at 22,010 Japanese yen.

Captain Mushafiz Mustafa Bakri, Batik Air’s chief executive officer, said that with these new routes to Sapporo and Osaka, the company was very optimistic about the growth of the market in the Land of the Rising Sun.

“Batik Air already flies to Osaka four times a week and to Sapporo three times a week. Now, they are planning to fly to Tokyo seven times a week. By March of 2019, Batik Air will fly between Malaysia and Japan 14 times a week “he said.

Mushafiz also said that Batik Air wanted to give people more options for travelling around the region and take advantage of a huge tourism market by adding routes to Japan.
